昨日からGoogle DeepMindの最新モデル「Imagen 4」が利用可能になりましたので、いつもの検証用プロンプトで試してみます。
今は、どの画像生成モデルも高性能なので、まったく驚きがないのですが「日常系の表現」なら、間違いなく「Imagen 4」が画像生成モデルの中で最も優秀。しかも、LLM (Google Gemini)で誰でも簡単に生成できるという手軽さは、競合サービスにとって脅威。

Whisk でも利用できるはず
最新モデルの「Imagen 4」は、Google Labsが公開している試験運用版ツールの「Whisk」で使えると思います。
ただ、Google AI Pro（有料）のユーザー限定かもしれません。未確認です。
モデルを「Best Quality」に切り替えれば、最新モデルの「Imagen 4」になるようです。
Veo 2の動画生成は「100回」という制限がありますが、画像生成は今のところ制限されたことはありません。
Midjourney v7の時も同じでしたが、どんなに高性能になっても、今はもう、話題になりません。アップデートの度に狂喜乱舞していたのは、2024年半ばくらいまで。
確かに「Imagen 4」は品質向上していますが、このくらいの画像生成レベルは「当たり前」と感じてしまいますね（※そんなことはないのですが）。
何の文脈もなく、たんに生成された画像を並べると、高校生が生成した画像も私たちが生成した画像も差異が無く、品質の違いがないという… そんな時代になってしまいました。
誰が生成しても高品質、画像生成AIを使う優位性は低下していますが…
その一方で、無数の候補から最適なビジュアルを選び取り、物語やブランドの文脈に沿って磨き上げるクリエイティブ・ディレクションの巧拙こそが、今後の差別化を左右する本質的な競争軸へと移行しつつあります。
AIの真価は、手数と速度を無限に拡張する力業ではなく、審美眼と物語設計をより高い精度で反映させる触媒として作用する点にあります。
平凡なプロンプトでも高品質な画像が得られる今こそ、問いの立て方、文脈の捉え方、そして最終的に「何を残し、何を捨てるか」という編集判断の質が、クリエイターの真価を浮き彫りにします。

2022年7月から昨年までは、画像生成AIのAesthetic Stylesの優秀さでは「Midjourneyが最強」だったのですが、現在は他社のモデルも同レベルの仕組みを持っているため、状況が大きく変化しています。
複数の画像生成モデルを併用し、最近はリミックスすることも多いので、Midjourneyの使用頻度は少なくなっています。
